Craig A. Brice, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer
Craig A. Brice is a Professor of Practice in Mechanical Engineering at Colorado School of Mines. He is currently the director of the Advanced Manufacturing degree program, an interdisciplinary program that focuses on undergraduate and graduate education in additive manufacturing. He is also involved in additive manufacturing research at Mines with the Alliance for the Development of Additive Processing Technologies (ADAPT) Center and serves as the industry relations director for the ADAPT Consortium. Craig has been working in additive manufacturing for over 20 years, beginning with the first commercially available AM system sold by Optomec in 1998. He has worked with Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Advanced Development Programs (Skunk Works), Lockheed Martin Space Advanced Technology Center, and NASA Langley Research Center. His work over the years has focused on alloy development, process monitoring and feedback control systems, and qualification/certification. He has served as lead/co-lead on Department of Defense collaborative projects worth over $20M, including an additive manufacturing qualification program for the F-35 and a Navy project focused on quality control and rapid qualification. He has contributed to over two dozen peer-reviewed journal publications and has 11 issued patents with one pending. Craig has a B.S. in metallurgical engineering from Missouri University of Science & Technology, an M.S. in materials science and engineering from The Ohio State University, and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Canterbury.
